METO CONSENT & PRIVACY POLICY

Meto, Inc. (“Meto”) collects personal information about you for the purpose:

STUDENTS

of providing you with educational opportunities. In order to do so, Meto must share the information you have provided with universities and other educational institutions (hereafter referred to as "universities").

UNIVERSITIES

of providing you with student match recommendations. In order to do so, Meto must share the information you have provided with students and their counselors (where applicable) (hereafter referred to as "students and counselors").

COUNSELORS

of providing you with updated progress on your students working with Meto. In order to do so, Meto must share the information you have provided with universities as part of their review process (hereafter referred to as "universities").

It is important to note that Meto does not own your information -- you do. The paragraphs below explain i) the data-sharing permission you give Meto by submitting information to Meto through its website or associated application ii) how Meto collects, processes, shares, and stores your data, and iii) the rights you have to limit or stop Meto from doing so.

You authorize Meto to share and receive information about you with & from the following stakeholders:

STUDENTS

Universities around the world

If a university reaches out to you through Meto, you also authorize the institution to send you direct, personalized communication in accordance with the institution’s privacy policy. You further allow the university to inform Meto whether you submit an application, the outcome of your application, how much financial aid and scholarships you are awarded (if applicable), and if you enroll and matriculate. You have the right to limit or stop any of this sharing at any time by emailing [email protected]. Please note: once you apply to and/or enroll in a university, you will be bound by the university’s privacy policy regarding students who apply and/or enroll.

Official representatives from your high school and/or the organization(s) to which you are affiliated.

The ministry of education and/or other related ministries or examination boards in your country.

Your parents and/or legal guardians.

The general public. In this case, Meto will share data trends but not personally identifiable information.

UNIVERSITIES

Students using Meto

If you reach out to a student through Meto, you also authorize the student to send you direct, personalized communication in connection to their application to your institution.

Official representatives from your high school and/or the organization(s) to which the affiliated student comes from.

The general public. In this case, Meto will share data trends for the following reasons:

use the name of your institution in materials shared with fellow institutions (e.g. as part of a list of institutions that work with Meto)

COUNSELORS

Universities with interest in your students using Meto

If a university reach out to a student associated with your school or program through Meto, you also authorize the university to send you direct, personalized communication in connection to their application to that institution.

The general public. In this case, Meto will share data trends for the following reasons:

use the name of your institution in materials shared with fellow institutions (e.g. as part of a list of institutions that work with Meto)

You have the right to limit or stop any of this sharing at any time by emailing [email protected].

VERIFYING YOUR INFORMATION

In order to ensure the accuracy of or supplement the information you provided in this form, you authorize Meto to collect additional information about you. This additional information includes but is not limited to:

STUDENTS

transcripts, predicted grades, and exam scores connected to the exam registration number that you may have provided. You have the right to stop Meto from verifying your information -- you can do so at any time by emailing [email protected].

AFFIRMATION OF ACCURACY

You affirm that all the information provided is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and you agree to edit your submission when there has been a significant change to the information you provided.

INFORMATION USE

You consent to be contacted by Meto through the email address, mobile number, Whatsapp number and other contact information included in your profile for the purpose of verifying your identity, updating your profile and surveying your experience while using the Meto platform. This information will be used in accordance with GDPR guidelines and you can opt out of being contacted at any time by emailing [email protected].

INFORMATION PROCESSING, STORAGE & SECURITY

Once you submit your information to Meto either through the website, associated applications or a form, your information is automatically transferred to Meto’s database.

STUDENTS

After personally identifiable information is removed, the information is then shared with universities around the world. In order for these institutions to see your personally identifiable information, Meto requires that they adhere to strict data privacy regulations.

UNIVERSITIES

After your make connections to a student, the information is then shared with the student and their counselor. In order for these users to see your personally identifiable information, Meto requires that they adhere to strict data privacy regulations

COUNSELORS

After a university expresses interest in any of your students, the information is then shared with the university. In order for these institutions to see your personally identifiable information, Meto requires that they adhere to strict data privacy regulations.

While no platform or data service can guarantee against breaches or hacks with 100% certainty, Meto does take significant precautionary efforts to protect the security of your information. To protect your information, Meto uses:

Google Suite and Google Drive, which both employ some of the world’s most advanced and protected security technologies, including HTTPS-encrypted tunnels, Transport Layer Security (TLS), at-rest encryption, and the regulation of sharing permissions. Messages sent via Gmail are encrypted until they reach their final destination. Operationally, your information is only accessed by authorized Meto personnel and the universities that agree to keep your information safe. All parties agree to only access your information through secure, private internet connections.

We utilize Google Cloud Platform to host part of Meto environment. For further details, see Google Cloud Platform Security.

YOUR RIGHTS

In addition to the rights listed above, you have the right to see the data related to you that is stored in Meto’s system, to know how long Meto plans to keep it, and to receive an explanation for why we intend to keep it for that length of time. Further, you may request that Meto transfer your information back to you in an easily accessible format, or you may ask Meto to delete your information altogether. Finally, you have the right to object to how Meto is processing your information. To take advantage of any of these rights, please email us at [email protected].

ETHICAL STANDARDS

Meto adheres to the standards for college admissions counseling set by the International Association for College Admission Counseling (International ACAC).

UPDATES

You agree to receive periodic updates from Meto. If you prefer not to, please email [email protected] and indicate your preference to not be included.

FUTURE VERSIONS

By agreeing to this version of the privacy policy, you agree to future versions of the policy. If there are significant changes to the policy that affect you, you will be informed by Meto prior to such changes taking effect.

PARENTAL CONSENT (IF NECESSARY)

For students under the age of 18 and/or students unable to consent for other reasons: By moving forward, you confirm that your parent or legal guardian also consents to the paragraphs above.
